Pest Bird Management
Bird fouling clearance
Removing bird fouling (droppings, nest material and feathers) using all health and safety measures and disposing of waste material in
accordance with up to date legislation. Biocide and insecticidal sprays are applied to contaminated areas to prevent disease and insect infestations.
Bird population reduction
These methods are used when bird proofing measures are impractical:
- Bird nursery programmes-regular nest removal visits throughout the breeding seasons of the three pest sea gull species only
- Shoots
- Live trapping
Proofing buildings and other structures using bird control systems
A full survey is carried out, with the most suitable cost affective
system always given in our quotations.
All parts and labour are guaranteed for 10 years.
These systems prevent birds from perching, roosting and nesting:

|
| Anti Bird Netting
| Tensioned Spring Wire
| No perch bird Spiking

Pest birds
There are now 11 identified pest bird species in the UK. Before 2005 there were 13, but due to the decline of Starlings and House Sparrows these have been removed from the list of The Wild Life and Countryside Act. Net proofing against these two bird species is still permitted.
The most common problem species are :
- Feral pigeon
- Herring Gull
- Lesser Black-backed Gull
- Great Black-backed Gull
The need for bird control
Birds can cause:
- DISEASE
- particularly from droppings (bird fouling)
- INJURY
- nesting seagulls can be aggressive and attack people,
- bird fouling can be a slip hazard along stairways and
pavements.
- DAMAGE
- the acidic content of bird droppings corrodes paintwork and
masonry,
- gutters and flat roof drainage systems can become blocked
with droppings, feathers and nesting material causing water damage,
- bird nests blocking chimneys are a major fire hazard.
- CONTAMINATION
- bird fouling contaminates food stuffs and packaged produce.
- SECONDARY PESTS
- many insect types live on and around birds and within bird nests. These include fleas, mites, beetles and flies also causing disease, food contamination and textile damage.
